Climatique’s mission and collective vision.

Climatique believes in a mass movement for the people, grounded in empathy, collective action, community resilience, solidarity, and on-the-ground bioregional political power building. We see our mission as the writing and telling of a new shared story through art, action, and collaboration. Climatique’s mission is to create a grassroots network of regular people who learn together, wake others up through media and events, take collective action at small and large scales, and empower each other to create a just and climate resilient future.

While we use climate and ecological breakdown as a central point, Climatique sees climate change as a symptom of a deeper root cause – our current economic system that puts profit and material acquisition above human life and our planet. For this reason, we seek to build solidarity and network collective action across many issues (which stem from the same root system of extraction and colonialism), such as labor, women's rights, indigenous justice, and racial justice through allying with other groups and doing work beyond climate. Our ecology is diverse, and so to thrive, our communities and movements should be, too. 🌱

Build a community that cares for, educates, and empowers!

Every single person who cares has a role to play, and everyone should also play a part in shaping the vision of what can be. As members of the movement, we feed our community, show up for each other when we need to, and celebrate together. We also encourage conversations, critical thinking, and self-empowerment so that more people can start helping out.

• Learn skills and share ideas together at weekly dinners and events.

• Offer and build alternative systems: cook and share meals, cohabitate, swap clothing and other resources, build relationships for community resilience, and provide space to process powerful emotions like grief and anxiety.

• Taking collective action in every area of our lives: volunteer to support local resilience and build new systems, and using the systems and skills we’ve built, collectively divest time and money from extractive, unjust systems of food, clothing, recreation and work.

• Operate democratically by agreeing to decide as much as possible by consensus, avoiding hierarchy and gatekeeping, and seeking out and incorporating feedback from all members.

Get the word out and inspire action!

The times we’re in require regular people to step up, come together, and take shared responsibility for our own futures. Climatique seeks to create media and in person experiences that wake more people up to the need for radical change, direct them to easy pathways for real action, and infuse them with a sense of hope and efficacy. These actions also provide important funding for Climatique.

• Concerts that transform: hold events with live music, art/dance/music popups, and mindful ceremonies. These inspire hope and solidarity, teach important ideas, create collective stories, and direct attendees towards concrete action in their lives.

• Art activism and product production: create clothes, art, tarot, convo cards, wheatpasting, creative canvassing, and any other media that can touch people’s hearts and help them imagine a better future.

• Educational resources: Curate and create resources that educate on important history, theoretical concepts, local groups and actions which are already happening.

Help build a city wide coalition and mass movement!

Support a mass movement in the Boulder County area that is both broad (uplifting across class, race, gender, and other categorizations) and deep (with diverse meaningful ways for all people to be involved). Rather than breaking solidarity by proposing a new, exclusive program, we aim to build connections between existing left-wing activist groups and other “regenerative” organizations and facilitate conversation and consensus. This will allow the broader regenerative movement to act as one, and thereby achieve transformational systemic change.

• Monthly gatherings between Boulder County regenerative groups and leaders to coordinate the below points of action.

• Build a long term strategy: create a shared understanding of which organizations fill what niches, collaboratively imagine the future we’re working towards, make and record decisions on strategy.

• Organize across race and class: coordinate unionizing, mutual aid, outreach to all kinds of organizations and people. Ensure there are diverse ways that people can help, regardless of how much free time or what kind of knowledge and skills they might have.

• Inter-organizational relationships: develop and maintain connections with local organizations through one-on-one conversations, social events, and showing up in solidarity for each other.

• Support electoral organizing: Do policy focused organizing to elect radical candidates at the local and state level, get more voters engaged in swing states, and advocate for progressive policies on the ballot.

Help spread this mass movement to the national level!

By organizing in Boulder we are building capacity to spread our successes around the country, strengthening the bonds between individuals and organizations with similar goals to our own.

• Create a program: our principles, overall strategy, tactics within that strategy, resources we’ve used to organize, and the experience we’ve gained while organizing should all be recorded and organized so that others can follow in our footsteps. We also seek to document current ideas and strategies from other groups that should be uplifted.

• Attend national level conferences: speak on our values and experience among diverse organizers, and listen to gain new perspectives from experienced and diverse voices.

• Maintain national relationships: develop and maintain relationships with regenerative leaders and players at the national level.
